Review
Searching for Ray Bradburyis a delightful book, written and made in the loving spirit of Ray himself. Sure, you could read almost all this material online for free, but it's a fine thing to have it gathered in one place, preserved for posterity in a physical book. Ray Bradbury loved books. OK, that's both obvious and an understatement. He didn't have much time for the online world, but now you can read Steven Paul Levia's tribute in the way Ray would most have appreciated. Who could resist? -- Gary Dalkin, Amazing Stories Magazine
A brisk read, partly because it is a slim volume, but also because of Leiva's essay-writing skill. Because of his initiation of so many Bradbury tributes, there is a danger that this collection could place Leiva at the centre of events, and inadvertently become self-aggrandising. But what lifts the book above this is precisely the way he finds the object of his search: hidden in plain sight, right there in Bradbury the public persona, is Bradbury the humanitarian, Bradbury the author. Leiva finds the true Bradbury by connecting anew with Bradbury's text. --Phil Nichols, BradburyMedia blog.
From the Author
It was my great pleasure from 2009 to 2012 to write eight essays on my dear friend and inspiration, Ray Bradbury. They have been gathered here in this book, and cover the man, his work, and his place in our world. I also write about my work to honor Ray on his 90th birthday with RAY BRADBURY WEEK in Los Angeles, a week long series of events that were, sadly, his last public appearances. And I detail the successful effort to name the major Los Angeles downtown intersection of Fifth & Flower, right by the Los Angeles Central Library, RAY BRADBURY SQUARE.

"Steven Paul Leiva's personal and deeply moving tribute to his friend, Searching for Ray Bradbury, shines a loving light upon some little known aspects of this intricate and deeply passionate man... In keeping with Ray's own style, Steve gives way to impulse. To passion and the heart." -- David Brin in his Foreword

Century. Steven Paul Leiva's book is a perfect tribute to the life and works of this
great artist." -- Joe Mantegna, actor/producer-narrator of Live Forever: The Ray Bradbury Odyssey
"In Searching for Ray Bradbury, Steven Paul Leiva helps us negotiate
Ray Bradbury's transition from a vibrant life to an enduring legacy. His
trenchant observations effectively summarize the profound range of
Bradbury's voice and vision, and reveal how his influence extended
from large public audiences and a vast readership to generations of
individual students and writers just beginning to negotiate the great
wide world." -- Professor Jonathan R. Eller, author of Becoming Ray Bradbury and Director of the Center for Ray Bradbury Studies, Indiana University

Excellent writing, highly recommended
By J. Rabe
I received this book in the mail from Amazon yesterday and read it last night. Steven Paul Leiva is a gifted wordsmith, particularly when he's writing about something close to his heart. I first read Leiva some years ago when I was on a jury for a writing award category. That book was "The Twelve Dogs of Christmas," a YA piece that was a joy to read. Since then I've read his Fixxer adventure, his blog, and now this, my favorite so far.
If you are a fan of Bradbury, or just a fan of good writing, pick this up.
I'm glad I did.

Time Trip
By Gene R. Beley
Since I was unable to attend the week long Ray Bradbury celebration in Los Angeles, it was like a backward trip in time to do that, thanks to author Steven Paul Leiva. However, I think Leiva could have less of himself and injected more observations about Bradbury in the book. If he was searching for Ray Bradbury, perhaps a better reporter would have done more interviews with his children and those who knew him well. Bradbury's life can be divided into chapters, like most people: I. Boy. II. Young man, when he did his greatest works. III. Idea man for Disney and Tony Robbins type lecturer and inspirer of thousands of college students. IV. Post stroke and fading into the sunset. Leiva could have seized on the opportunity to have better covered this final chapter with the advantage of the overview of Bradbury's entire career and impact on the world.

Steve is a great writer.
By Michael D. Cloyd
I enjoyed the anecdotal style of Steve's accounting of his relationship with Ray. His recounting of factual events are very well written and enjoyable to read.
