Praise for You Don't Know My Name:
"This is my ideal sort of book, full of tension, action, romance, family issues, and a girl struggling to figure out her identity. Kristen Orlando has created a kickass character―literally!―I was won over instantly. I can't wait for the sequel!" ―Sara Shepard, #1 New York Times Best Selling author of The Pretty Little Liars series
"Debut author Orlando strikes a fast-paced, flirty, and mostly believable balance between timely teenage conflicts (crippling anxiety, fruitless study sessions, humiliating house parties) and pure peril. This one’s a page-turner, and the unexpectedly catastrophic conclusion―and lingering promise of sweet revenge―suggests Orlando, much like Reagan, is just getting started." ―Booklist
"At its core, it is an action-packed novel about searching for oneself in the midst of heavy expectations. The violence is plot-advancing rather than gratuitous, while the main character is a strategizing, brave teen who is attempting to find her way both in the moment and into her own future. A solid addition to high school collections, especially those with patrons who love stories of spy craft and secret identities, with a splash of romance" ―School Library Journal
"This action-packed suspense novel is the first in a new series that features a kick-ass female protagonist whose training regimen and smoldering love interest rival that of Divergent’s Tris Prior."― Bookpage
"If you are a fan of Ally Carter's Gallager Girls or Heist Society, You Don't Know My Name needs to be on your radar. The protagonist is a strong, likable character and the romance that develops is sweet. Then there is the heart-stopping action and the suspenseful and explosive ending." ―Romantic Times Book Review

Gr 10 Up—Reagan Hillis cannot keep track of all of the different Reagans she has been. Raised from a young age to be an elite spy and commando, she is expected to become a Black Angel, a member of the covert CIA organization that her parents work for. This life is physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding, and no place feels like home. It seems like the moment she settles into a new cover, it is ripped away, and she has relocated numerous times, in the middle of the night, without the chance to say good-bye to the friends she has made. Then she lands in New Albany, OH, and against her better judgment, develops close friendships that make her feel a little more normal and prompt questions about her future choices. But disaster strikes. Will she be ripped from the best life she has had? This reads like a more mature, serious version of Ally Carter's I'd Tell You I Love You, but Then I'd Have To Kill You or Joe Schreiber's Au Revoir, Crazy European Chick. At its core, it is an action-packed novel about searching for oneself in the midst of heavy expectations. The violence is plot-advancing rather than gratuitous, while the main character is a strategizing, brave teen who is attempting to find her way both in the moment and into her own future. VERDICT A solid addition to high school collections, especially those with patrons who love stories of spy craft and secret identities, with a splash of romance.—Melyssa Kenney, Parkville High School, MD

"There is plenty of action and wish fulfillment as Reagan insubordinately takes ridiculous risks, largely successfully. Teens who enjoy a little romance and the contrast of normal life that serves to heighten the dream of a teen operative masterfully battling a clearly defined evil will relish Reagan as an impressively powerful heroine." ―VOYA
“I couldn't put this book down! I was reading it from my phone, my tablet, and my work computer! I like how the fight scenes felt so real - my heart was pounding! I can't wait to see the sequel. I hope this becomes a Trilogy!” ―Jennifer, Swoon Reads Commenter
“Amazingly fast-paced action thriller in the tradition of Hunger Games or Divergent without the dystopia. Reagan is a heroine worthy of superb story-telling skills.” ―Katie Borden, Swoon Reads Commenter
“Loved this book!! Totally swoonworthy. Read in less than a day. Seriously a page turner.” ―Sasha P., Swoon Reads Commenter

Excellent Start to New Spy Series
By Amazon Customer
When a book starts by throwing you/the main characters into a panic room, you know the story is only going to get more intense from there! You Don't Know My Name is an excellent start to a brand new secret spy series that will be sure to a hit with fans of Ally Carter and other similar authors. This entire book was a roller coaster ride of excitement straight to the very end. And the fact that this is Kristen Orlando's debut novel? Well that just impresses me even more!
Reagan is an excellent main character and I immediately was able to connect with her. I think that's pretty impressive given the situation she was in at the start of the story. As we get to know Reagan a bit more we see how intelligent, brave, and kickbutt she is. She's fierce and a fighter. Reagan is willing to die for those she loves the most and put her life on the line if it means saving the ones she holds most dear. In other words, Reagan is an extremely strong female lead that has excellent characterization throughout the story. Despite being a tough girl, she is also vulnerable and unsure of herself. That life her parents have been training her for since she was little? Well, she might not want it after all. And that's bound to cause some rifts. For once, Reagan just wants a little normalcy, and when you and your parents belong to a secret part of the government, that's just not possible. Every emotion Reagan felt during this story is palpable on the page. You truly feel as if you're right there with Reagan experiencing everything she is experiencing.
The other characters in the story were great as well. Her friends, her parents, the other people in the group, I loved! And that takes some skill to make me like everyone. But Luke is by far my favorite. He is just adorable and oh so lovable. He's a great character through and through, and not just as the love interest for Reagan (which don't get me wrong, just adds to his character). He is so much more than a love interest, and I'm excited to see where his character goes in the next book!!
The plot is phenomenal in my opinion. This was a fast-paced quick read that I never wanted to put down. There are a lot of twists and turns, and the ending is brutal. Like rips-your-heart-out brutal! It's okay if you shed some tears, I won't tell anyone, especially because I would be right there crying along with you. There was the perfect amount of suspense and action throughout the story, and she described everything very well.
This book was on my watch list for awhile, and I am super happy that I decided to check it out! I've always been a sucker for a good spy story, and this one is certainly no exception. From the minute I started reading, I was fully engaged in this book, and I couldn't believe I finished it within a couple of hours. I definitely think everyone who is a fan of spy novels should check this book out because you will seriously love it!
Happy reading :)

I went into this book expecting a fun spy story
By KM
I went into this book expecting a fun spy story, but by the novel's end I was tense and torn and totally heartbroken. Seventeen-year-old MC Reagan's parents are Black Angels -- super secret spies who go out on dangerous missions and change their identities at a moment's notice. That means Reagan, too, has to pick up and move, often in the middle of the night, leaving her fledging friendships -- not to mention a piece of herself-- behind. Thanks to a childhood spent training in martial arts and weaponry and foreign languages, Reagan's expected to become a Black Angel herself, but she's questioning her presumed future thanks to her most recent group of friends -- cute JROTC cadet Luke, in particular. But when Reagan gets tangled up in one of her parents' missions and is forced to put her training to use, her life changes irrevocably. Author Kristen Orlando does such an amazing job capturing the many facets of Reagan's life, including the sweet romance she and Luke are developing, the anxiety she experiences thanks to her intense lifestyle, her complicated relationship with her parents, and the tragic rescue-mission-gone-wrong in Columbia. Definitely pick You Don't Know My Name up of you're into unflinching novels that'll set your heart racing.

Finally, a hard-core female spy who could actually pass for a hard-core female spy
By Clare
I think this book could've been a little longer and cleanly finished without a sequel, butttttt, since I actually liked the main character, I'm okay with it. ;)
The gist of the book: the heroine, Reagan (or Mac) has been trained all of her life to follow in the footsteps of her super secret, bad-ass agent parents to be the most super secret, bad-ass agent ever. You can read the book description if you want more info, so I'll move on.
Characters: wow, Reagan was actually interesting, and as portrayed almost as realistically as I could imagine an 18 year old undercover agent could be written. An aggravating problem in most YA fiction in general is the voice of the character not realistically reflecting their age - you have middle schoolers on one hand that act like adults, or teenagers with the emotional maturity of a kindergartner. However, the author caught Reagan's age very well, as well as her thoughts, emotions, and reactions to the situations she was presented with.
General: finally, a "lighter" spy book that doesn't drown us in the first couple chapters with ridiculous descriptions of how bad-ass the main character is - i.e, "she knew five languages by the time she was three, and eleven - if you don't include both dialects of ShibiShibi as individual languages - by the time she was eight." Yes, there is some "boasting" of how cool Reagan is (she knows how to break a man's neck ten ways - um, good for her?), but the book isn't saturated with it, and what's more, the author actually demonstrates how cool Reagan is simply by her reactions to situations - mature and calm as can be expected, for the most part.
Romance: well, in the long run of things, I think it could've been a little shorter. I appreciated the fact that she was already friends with Luke, so it wasn't this insta-love - well, it sorta was, but we didn't have to suffer through the annoying part of it, so that was nice. However, Luke was kinda...boring. I say this almost as a positive thing because he could've been realllllly obnoxious, but instead, he was just kinda "meh." I almost wish the author would've had the pair just be really good friends in this book, and then develop the romance in the second.
I'm sure some top-secret agent person would read this book and roll their eyes, but honestly, I'm just thankful it wasn't another prissy, overly-dramatic High Society story.
If I could, I would give this book 4.5 stars, but I'm pretty stingy with reviews, so four it is. ;)
